Sam Cooke was an American singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur, born on January 22, 1931, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He is considered to be one of the pioneers and most influential figures in soul music. Cooke began his music career as a member of the gospel group The Soul Stirrers before transitioning to a successful solo career in the late 1950s.
Known for his smooth and expressive voice, Cooke released numerous hits, including "You Send Me," "Cupid," and "A Change Is Gonna Come." He was also a trailblazer in the music industry, establishing his own record label and music publishing company. Tragically, Cooke's life was cut short when he was shot and killed under mysterious circumstances on December 11, 1964, at the age of 33. Despite his untimely death, Sam Cooke's music continues to inspire generations of artists and fans alike.
