Sam Neely was an American country music artist born on December 22, 1948, in Cuero, Texas. He gained popularity in the 1970s with his unique blend of country and rock music. Neely signed with Capitol Records and released several albums including "Sam Neely" in 1977 and "Loving You Just Crossed My Mind" in 1978. His most well-known single was "You Can Have Her" which reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1979.
Despite his success in the music industry, Sam Neely eventually stepped away from the spotlight and retired from the music scene. He passed away on July 19, 2006, at the age of 57. Neely's music continues to be enjoyed by fans of country and rock music, and he is remembered for his contribution to the genre during the 1970s.
