Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs were an American rock band formed in 1961 in Dallas, Texas. The band was led by Domingo "Sam" Samudio, who adopted the stage name Sam The Sham. The group achieved their greatest success in the mid-1960s with their hit singles "Wooly Bully" and "Li'l Red Riding Hood." "Wooly Bully" reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1965 and was certified gold. The song's success helped propel the band to fame and led to appearances on popular television shows such as American Bandstand.
