Artist Bio:
Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs were an American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in 1961. The band was led by Domingo "Sam" Samudio, who adopted the stage name Sam The Sham. The group achieved their greatest success in the mid-1960s with their hit song "Wooly Bully." Released in 1965, "Wooly Bully" reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became one of the band's signature songs.


In addition to "Wooly Bully," Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs also had other hits such as "Li'l Red Riding Hood" and "The Hair on My Chinny Chin Chin." The band's music was known for its catchy melodies, energetic performances, and a mix of rock and roll with Tex-Mex influences. Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs were inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, recognizing their contribution to the music scene in Texas and beyond.
