Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs were an American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in 1961. The band was led by Domingo "Sam" Samudio, known for his energetic stage presence and distinctive vocal style. The Pharaohs were known for their mix of rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and Tex-Mex influences. In addition to "Wooly Bully," the band had several other charting singles in the 1960s, including "Li'l Red Riding Hood" and "The Hair on My Chinny Chin Chin." Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs disbanded in 1970, but their music continues to be celebrated for its catchy tunes and fun, lively performances.
