Sammy Hagar is an American rock vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, born on October 13, 1947, in Salinas, California. He is best known for his solo career and for being the lead singer of the band Van Halen from 1985 to 1996. Hagar first gained fame in the 1970s with his band Montrose before launching a successful solo career that included hits like "I Can't Drive 55" and "Your Love is Driving Me Crazy." Hagar joined Van Halen in 1985, replacing David Lee Roth as the lead vocalist. During his time with the band, they released four multi-platinum albums, including "5150" and "OU812."
After leaving Van Halen, Hagar continued his successful solo career and also formed the band Chickenfoot. Hagar is known for his energetic live performances and his distinct vocal style, often described as a raspy tenor. He has won numerous awards throughout his career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007. Hagar is also a successful entrepreneur, with ventures in the restaurant and spirits industries.
