Nelson is best known for his energetic drumming style and for being a pioneer of the surf rock genre. He gained popularity with his single "Teen Beat," released in 1959, which reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Throughout his career, Sandy Nelson released numerous albums and singles, including "Let There Be Drums" and "Drums Are My Beat." He was also known for his collaborations with other musicians in the industry. Despite facing personal challenges, including a serious motorcycle accident in 1963 that resulted in the amputation of his right foot, Nelson continued to perform and record music. He remains a respected figure in the history of rock and roll drumming.
