Santa Esmeralda is a French-American disco group formed in the 1970s. The band was led by the French musician and composer Jean-Manuel de Scarano, also known as Nicolas Skorsky. Their most famous song is a flamenco-style cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," originally by The Animals, which became a worldwide hit in 1977. The song featured vocals by Leroy Gomez and reached the top of the charts in several countries.


Santa Esmeralda's music is known for blending elements of disco, flamenco, and Latin rhythms, creating a unique and energetic sound that appealed to audiences around the world. The group released several albums throughout the 1970s and continued to perform live shows, particularly in Europe and Latin America.
