Sarah Vaughan, also known as "Sassy" and "The Divine One," was an American jazz singer born on March 27, 1924, in Newark, New Jersey. She was known for her distinctive vocal style, which blended jazz, pop, and blues influences. Vaughan's career spanned over five decades, and she was considered one of the greatest jazz vocalists of all time.


Vaughan's impressive vocal range, control, and improvisational skills earned her multiple Grammy Awards throughout her career. Some of her most famous recordings include "Misty," "Lullaby of Birdland," and "Whatever Lola Wants." Vaughan collaborated with many jazz legends, including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Quincy Jones. She passed away on April 3, 1990, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential and talented jazz singers in history.
