The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1982 and achieved commercial success, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Patty Smyth joined the band as lead vocalist in 1982, replacing former lead singer and founder of the band, Ivan Elias. Smyth's powerful vocals and stage presence helped propel the band to success in the early 1980s. After releasing a few albums, Scandal disbanded in 1985, and Patty Smyth went on to pursue a solo career.
