Artist Bio:
Scott McKenzie, born Philip Wallach Blondheim Jr. on January 10, 1939, in Jacksonville, Florida, was an American singer-songwriter. He started his music career as a folk musician in the early 1960s and eventually joined The Journeymen, a folk group that also included John Phillips. McKenzie is best known for his hit single "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)," which became a symbol of the hippie movement and the flower power era. Despite the success of the song, McKenzie struggled to replicate its chart performance with subsequent releases. He continued to perform music throughout his life but never achieved the same level of success as he did with his iconic song. McKenzie passed away on August 18, 2012, in Los Angeles, California.
