Artist Bio:
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, known simply as Selena, was a Mexican-American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, model, actress, and fashion designer. Born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, Selena rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s as the Queen of Tejano music, a male-dominated music genre. She released several successful albums, including "Ven Conmigo" (1990), "Amor Prohibido" (1994), and "Dreaming of You" (1995), which helped her become one of the most celebrated Latin artists of all time.

Selena's music style blended Tejano, cumbia, and pop, and she was known for her powerful voice and energetic performances. She won numerous awards for her music, including a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album for "Live" in 1994. Tragically, Selena's life was cut short when she was murdered by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar, on March 31, 1995, at the age of 23. Despite her untimely death, Selena's legacy continues to live on through her music, influence on Latin artists, and dedicated fan base.
