Sergio Mendes is a Brazilian musician and bandleader known for his work in the genres of bossa nova and samba. Born on February 11, 1941, in Niteroi, Brazil, Mendes began his musical career as a pianist and later formed the Sergio Mendes Trio in the early 1960s. He gained international fame with his band, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, which combined bossa nova with elements of pop and jazz.

Mendes has released over 35 albums and has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards throughout his career. Some of his most famous hits include "Mas Que Nada" and "The Look of Love." He has collaborated with numerous artists, including will.i.am, The Black Eyed Peas, and John Legend. Sergio Mendes continues to tour and perform around the world, showcasing his unique blend of Brazilian rhythms and contemporary music styles.
