Sheb Wooley was an American actor and singer, born on April 10, 1921, in Erick, Oklahoma, and passed away on September 16, 2003. He was best known for his hit novelty song "The Purple People Eater," which topped the charts in 1958. Wooley also had a successful acting career, appearing in over 60 films and numerous television shows. He is perhaps most recognized for his role as Pete Nolan in the popular television Western series "Rawhide," which aired from 1959 to 1965.


Aside from his music and acting career, Sheb Wooley was also a talented voice actor, lending his voice to various animated films and series. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1986 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994 for his contributions to the entertainment industry. Wooley's versatile talents and unique voice left a lasting impact on the world of music and entertainment.
