The band's original lineup consisted of members Daryl Braithwaite (vocals), Garth Porter (keyboards), Clive Shakespeare (guitar), Alan Sandow (drums), and Tony Mitchell (bass). They were known for their catchy pop songs and energetic live performances, and quickly gained popularity in Australia during the 1970s.
Sherbet released a string of hit singles in the 1970s, including "Howzat," "Summer Love," and "Cassandra," which all reached the top of the Australian charts. They were also successful in the international market, particularly in Europe and Asia. Despite several lineup changes over the years, Sherbet remained a popular and influential band in the Australian music scene until they disbanded in 1984.
