Shirley Brown is an American R&B and soul singer born on January 6, 1947, in West Memphis, Arkansas. She is best known for her hit song "Woman to Woman," which was released in 1974 and reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart. Brown was signed to Stax Records, a renowned soul music label, and worked with producer Al Bell.
In addition to "Woman to Woman," Shirley Brown had several other successful songs in the 1970s, including "It Ain't No Fun" and "Yes, Sir Brother." She continued to release music throughout the 1980s and 1990s, although she never achieved the same level of commercial success as she did with "Woman to Woman."
