Shirley Caesar is an American Gospel music singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Born on October 13, 1938, in Durham, North Carolina, she began her music career in the 1950s as a member of the group The Caravans before launching a successful solo career. Caesar is known for her powerful vocals and unique ability to blend traditional gospel with contemporary sounds.


Throughout her career, Shirley Caesar has released over 40 albums and won multiple Grammy Awards for her contributions to Gospel music. She is often referred to as the "First Lady of Gospel Music" and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Caesar is also a pastor and the co-founder of the Mt. Calvary Word of Faith Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. She continues to inspire audiences around the world with her music and ministry.
