Shorty Long, born as Frederick Earl Long in 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama, was a singer, songwriter, and pianist who was signed to Motown Records in the 1960s. He was known for his energetic performances and charismatic stage presence. Along with "Here Comes The Judge," Shorty Long had other hits such as "Function at the Junction" and "I Had a Dream." Tragically, Shorty Long's life was cut short in 1969 when he died in a boating accident at the age of 29. Despite his untimely death, Shorty Long's music continues to be celebrated for its unique blend of soul, R&B, and energetic performances.
