Simon & Garfunkel were an American folk rock duo consisting of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. They were one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s, known for their close harmonies and introspective lyrics. The duo rose to fame with their hit single "The Sound of Silence" in 1965, followed by other popular songs such as "Mrs. Robinson," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and "Scarborough Fair/Canticle."
Simon & Garfunkel released five studio albums together, with their final album "Bridge Over Troubled Water" becoming a massive commercial success and winning six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. Despite their success, the duo disbanded in 1970 to pursue solo careers. They have since reunited for occasional performances and collaborations over the years, cementing their status as one of the most iconic musical duos in history.
