Simon & Garfunkel was an American folk rock duo consisting of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. They were one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s, known for their close vocal harmonies and introspective lyrics. The duo first gained popularity in the mid-1960s with their hit single "The Sound of Silence," followed by other chart-topping songs like "Mrs. Robinson," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and "Scarborough Fair/Canticle."
Simon & Garfunkel released a total of five studio albums together, with their final album "Bridge Over Troubled Water" becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. The duo disbanded in 1970 to pursue solo careers but reunited for occasional performances over the years.
