Skeeter Davis was an American country music singer and songwriter born on December 30, 1931, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. She rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s with hit songs such as "The End of the World" and "I Can't Stay Mad at You." Davis was known for her distinctive soprano vocal style and emotional delivery, which resonated with audiences and helped her achieve commercial success in the country music scene.


Throughout her career, Davis released numerous albums and singles, becoming one of the first female country artists to achieve crossover success on the pop charts. She was also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a prestigious country music stage in Nashville, Tennessee.
