Artist Bio:
Slave was an American funk band formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1975. The group was known for their smooth, soulful sound and tight musicianship. The band's lineup included vocalists Steve Washington and Starleana Young, as well as musicians Mark Hicks, Danny Webster, Mark Adams, and Tim Dozier. They were signed to Cotillion Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1977, which included the hit single "Slide."


Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Slave released several albums that were well-received by fans and critics alike. Some of their other popular songs include "Just a Touch of Love" and "Watching You." The band's music is often categorized as funk, soul, and R&B, and they are considered one of the pioneers of the "Dayton funk" sound. Slave's music continues to be celebrated by fans of funk music and has influenced generations of musicians.
