The group's original lineup consisted of William "Smokey" Robinson, Warren "Pete" Moore, Ronnie White, Bobby Rogers, and Claudette Rogers. Smokey Robinson served as the group's primary songwriter, producer, and lead singer, with a smooth tenor voice that became their signature sound.


The group achieved major success in the 1960s with hits like "Shop Around," "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," and "The Tracks of My Tears." They were known for their tight harmonies and distinctive sound, blending doo-wop, soul, and pop music. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, recognizing their influence and contributions to the music industry.
