Smokey Robinson, born William Robinson Jr. on February 19, 1940, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is famous for being one of the founding members of the Motown group The Miracles, where he served as the lead singer and primary songwriter. Robinson's smooth tenor voice and heartfelt lyrics helped define the "Motown Sound" of the 1960s and contributed to the label's success.
Apart from his work with The Miracles, Smokey Robinson also had a successful solo career, releasing hits such as "Cruisin'" and "Being with You." Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Robinson's influence on soul and R&B music is widely recognized, and he continues to perform and create music to this day.
