Smokie is a British rock band that was formed in Bradford, England in 1965. The group originally started off as a country rock band called "The Yen" before changing their name to Smokie in 1975. The band's lineup consisted of members Chris Norman, Terry Uttley, Alan Silson, and Ron Kelly (who was later replaced by Pete Spencer).
Smokie gained international fame in the 1970s with hits such as "Living Next Door to Alice," "Lay Back in the Arms of Someone," and "Needles and Pins." Their music is known for its catchy melodies and harmonies, blending elements of rock, pop, and country. Smokie continues to tour and perform, maintaining a strong fan base around the world.
