Solomon Burke was an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 10, 2010, in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. Known as the "King of Rock 'n' Soul," Burke was a pioneer of soul music and gospel. He began his music career in the 1960s and was renowned for his powerful and emotive voice.


Burke released numerous hit songs throughout his career, including "Cry to Me," "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," and "Got to Get You Off My Mind." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003. Burke's music has had a lasting impact on the soul and R&B genres, and he is remembered as a legendary figure in American music history.
