Solomon Burke was an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 10, 2010, in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. He was known as a pioneer of soul music and was often referred to as the "King of Rock 'n' Soul." Burke began his music career at a young age, releasing his first single in 1955 at the age of 14. He was highly regarded for his powerful and emotive vocals, which helped him achieve success in the music industry.


Throughout his career, Burke released numerous hit songs, including "Cry to Me," "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," and "Down in the Valley." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003 for his album "Don't Give Up on Me." Burke's influence on soul music continues to be felt today, and he is remembered as one of the genre's most talented and influential artists.
