Solomon Burke was an American singer, songwriter, and preacher known for his soulful voice and influential contributions to soul music. He was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 10, 2010, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Burke began his music career at a young age, releasing his first single, "Christmas Presents From Heaven," at the age of 14. He later gained fame in the 1960s with hits such as "Cry to Me" and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love."


Burke was often referred to as the "King of Rock 'n' Soul" and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Throughout his career, he released numerous albums and singles, showcasing his powerful vocals and emotional delivery.
