Solomon Burke was an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 10, 2010. He was a pioneer of soul music and is often referred to as the "King of Rock 'n' Soul". Burke released numerous hit songs throughout his career, including "Cry to Me", "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love", and "Got to Get You Off My Mind".


Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003 for his album "Don't Give Up on Me". He was known for his powerful voice and his ability to blend gospel, R&B, and rock influences in his music. Solomon Burke's contributions to soul music have left a lasting impact on the industry, and he is remembered as one of the greats in the genre.
