Solomon Burke was an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on October 10, 2010. He was a pioneer of soul music and known for his powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence. Burke was often referred to as the "King of Rock and Soul" and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.


Throughout his career, Burke released numerous hit songs, including "Cry to Me," "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," and "Got to Get You Off My Mind." He was also a prolific songwriter, penning many of his own songs. Burke's music had a significant influence on the development of soul music and he is remembered as one of the genre's greatest artists.
