Artist Bio:
Solomon Burke was an American singer and songwriter born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a pioneering figure in soul music, known for his powerful voice and emotive delivery. Burke began his musical career in the 1960s and found success with hits such as "Cry to Me" and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love."


Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for his 2002 album "Don't Give Up on Me." He continued to perform and record music until his death on October 10, 2010. Throughout his career, Solomon Burke was celebrated for his contributions to soul music and his distinctive style that influenced generations of musicians.
