Artist Bio:
Solomon Burke was an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a pioneering figure in the soul music genre, known for his powerful voice and charismatic stage presence. Burke began his music career in the 1960s and released numerous hit songs, including "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" and "Cry to Me."


In addition to his successful music career, Burke was also a preacher and bishop in the Church of God in Christ. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003. Burke passed away on October 10, 2010, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the greatest soul singers of his time.
