Artist Bio:
Solomon Burke (1940-2010) was an American singer-songwriter known for his contributions to soul music. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and began his music career at a young age, recording his first hit single, "Just Out of Reach (Of My Two Open Arms)," in 1961. Burke's music blended soul, gospel, and rhythm and blues, earning him the nickname "King of Rock 'n' Soul."


Throughout his career, Burke released numerous albums and singles, with hits such as "Cry to Me" and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003 for his album "Don't Give Up on Me." Burke's powerful voice and emotional delivery made him a respected figure in the music industry, and his influence on soul music continues to be felt today.
