Sonny James, born James Hugh Loden on May 1, 1928, was an American country music singer and songwriter. He was known for his smooth voice and hit songs such as "Young Love" and "Running Bear." James was a member of the Grand Ole Opry and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. He was also the first country music artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.


Throughout his career, Sonny James released over 70 albums and had 26 number one hits on the Billboard country music charts. He was known for his unique blend of country and pop music, which appealed to a wide audience. Sonny James passed away on February 22, 2016, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the country music industry.
