He was known for his smooth vocals and crossover success, earning him the nickname the "Southern Gentleman." James recorded a string of hits in the 1950s and 1960s, including the chart-topping singles "Young Love" and "Since I Met You Baby." He was one of the first country music artists to have his music released in stereo and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
Throughout his career, Sonny James released over 70 albums and had 26 number one hits on the country charts. He was also known for his contributions to the Nashville music scene, serving as the president of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. Sonny James passed away on February 22, 2016, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of country music.
