He was also known as the "Southern Gentleman" for his polite demeanor and clean-cut image.
Throughout his career, Sonny James recorded over 70 albums and had 26 No. 1 hits on the Billboard country charts. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Sonny James passed away in 2016 at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most successful country music artists of his time.
