The band's original lineup consisted of Dave Pirner (vocals, rhythm guitar), Dan Murphy (lead guitar), Karl Mueller (bass), and Grant Young (drums). They gained popularity in the 1990s with their hit singles "Runaway Train" and "Misery" from their 1992 album "Grave Dancers Union."
