They gained popularity in the mid-1990s with their hit singles "Candy Rain" and "Every Little Thing I Do" from their debut album also titled "Candy Rain," which was released in 1995. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Soul For Real continued to release music throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, with moderate success. They released a second album titled "For Life" in 1996.
