Soundgarden was an influential American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. The band's lineup consisted of lead vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Hiro Yamamoto, and drummer Matt Cameron. Known for their heavy sound and Cornell's distinctive vocals, Soundgarden was a key figure in the grunge movement of the 1990s, alongside bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
Soundgarden achieved commercial success with albums like "Superunknown" and "Badmotorfinger," which featured hit singles such as "Black Hole Sun" and "Rusty Cage." The band's sound blended elements of heavy metal, punk rock, and alternative rock, creating a unique and powerful musical style. Despite disbanding in 1997, Soundgarden reunited in 2010 and continued to tour and release new music until Cornell's tragic death in 2017.
