South Shore Commission was an American soul and funk group formed in Chicago in the early 1970s. The group was originally known as South Shore Commission and later changed their name to SSC. They were signed to the Wand Records label and released their debut album, "South Shore Commission" in 1975. The album featured their most successful single, "Free Man," which reached #23 on the Billboard R&B chart.
South Shore Commission was known for their energetic live performances and their unique blend of soul, funk, and disco music. They released a total of three albums before disbanding in the late 1970s. Despite their relatively short career, South Shore Commission made an impact on the music scene with their catchy melodies and infectious grooves.
