Artist Bio:
Steely Dan is an American rock band formed by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen in 1972. They are known for their unique blend of rock, jazz, and R&B influences, as well as their distinctive songwriting and meticulous studio production. The band's name is taken from a steam-powered dildo in William S. Burroughs' novel Naked Lunch. Steely Dan achieved commercial success with their fourth album, "Katy Lied" in 1975, and their sixth album, "Aja," in 1977, which is considered one of their best works. The band's music is characterized by complex harmonies, sophisticated arrangements, and cryptic lyrics.
Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Despite several lineup changes over the years, Becker and Fagen remained the core members of the band until Becker's death in 2017. Some of Steely Dan's most popular songs include "Do It Again," "Reelin' in the Years," and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number." Their music continues to be celebrated for its technical prowess and enduring appeal.
