Steve Alaimo is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, born on December 6, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska. He began his music career in the early 1960s as a singer, achieving moderate success with hits like "Every Day I Have to Cry" and "Mashed Potatoes." Alaimo also appeared on several television shows including Dick Clark's American Bandstand.


In addition to his singing career, Alaimo found success as a record producer, working with artists such as Betty Wright and KC and the Sunshine Band. He is credited with helping to shape the sound of the Miami music scene in the 1970s. Alaimo continues to be involved in the music industry, and his contributions to the world of music have left a lasting impact.
