Styx is an American rock band that was formed in Chicago in 1972. The band's original lineup consisted of Dennis DeYoung, James "J.Y." Young, John Panozzo, John Curulewski, and Chuck Panozzo. Styx is known for their progressive rock sound, blending elements of hard rock with pop and theatrical elements in their music. They achieved commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with hit songs such as "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," and "Babe."
Styx has released 16 studio albums, with their most successful being "The Grand Illusion" and "Paradise Theatre," both of which were certified multi-platinum. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years, with DeYoung departing in 1999. Styx continues to tour and record new music, with a current lineup that includes original members James Young and Chuck Panozzo, as well as newer members such as Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan.
