In addition to her work as a producer, Sylvia had a successful solo career, with hits like "Pillow Talk" and "Sweet Stuff." She is often referred to as the "Mother of Hip Hop" for her role in producing the Sugarhill Gang's influential single "Rapper's Delight," which is considered one of the first commercially successful hip hop songs. Sylvia Robinson passed away on September 29, 2011, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering figure in R&B and hip hop music.
