Artist Bio:
Tammy Montgomery, also known as Tammi Terrell, was an American singer-songwriter born on April 29, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began her music career at a young age, performing in various talent shows and winning several of them. In 1960, at the age of 15, she was signed to Scepter Records and released her first single, "If You See Bill." Tammi later signed with James Brown's Try Me Records, where she released several singles, including "I Cried" and "If You Don't Think."
In 1965, Tammi Terrell signed with Motown Records and became best known for her duets with Marvin Gaye. Their hit songs, such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," became classics in the Motown catalog. Tragically, Tammi's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1967. She passed away on March 16, 1970, at the age of 24. Despite her short career, Tammi Terrell's soulful voice and contributions to Motown music continue to be celebrated today.
