Artist Bio:
t.A.T.u. was a Russian music duo formed in 1999 by Ivan Shapovalov. The group consisted of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, who gained international fame with their hit single "All the Things She Said" in 2002. The song reached the top of the charts in multiple countries and was known for its controversial music video depicting the two singers in schoolgirl outfits and kissing in the rain. t.A.T.u. released three studio albums between 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane (2002) and Waste Management (2009). They were noted for their provocative image and openly discussing LGBTQ+ themes in their music.
Despite their initial success, t.A.T.u. disbanded in 2011, with both members pursuing solo careers. The duo briefly reunited in 2016 for a performance at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Their music and image continue to be remembered as iconic and groundbreaking in the pop music industry.
