Technotronic was a Belgian electronic music project formed in 1988 by Jo Bogaert. The project achieved international success with their hit single "Pump Up the Jam" released in 1989. The song featured vocals by Ya Kid K, a Congolese-Belgian rapper and singer. Ya Kid K, whose real name is Manuela Kamosi, became known for her energetic and powerful vocal delivery on the track. "Pump Up the Jam" became a worldwide sensation and reached the top of the charts in multiple countries.

Following the success of "Pump Up the Jam," Technotronic released several more singles featuring Ya Kid K, including "Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over)" and "Move This."
