She was one of the few white artists to find success in the traditionally black-dominated genres of R&B and soul.
Teena Marie had several hits throughout her career, including songs like "Lovergirl," "Square Biz," and "Fire and Desire" featuring Rick James. She was also a talented musician, playing several instruments, including the guitar, bass, and keyboards. Teena Marie continued to release music and perform until her passing on December 26, 2010, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering artist in the realms of R&B and soul music.
