Terence Trent D'Arby, now known as Sananda Maitreya, is an American singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1980s. He was born on March 15, 1962, in Manhattan, New York. D'Arby's debut album, "Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby," was released in 1987 and was a commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart and earning him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance.
