The 5 Stairsteps, also known as The Five Stairsteps, was a family group from Chicago consisting of five siblings: Alohe Jean, Clarence Jr., James, Dennis, and Kenneth Burke. Formed in 1965, they were known for their soulful harmonies and were often referred to as "The First Family of Soul." The group achieved success in the late 1960s and early 1970s with hits like "O-o-h Child" and "You Waited Too Long." They were one of the first acts to sign with Buddah Records and were influential in the development of soul music. The 5 Stairsteps disbanded in the mid-1970s but left a lasting impact on the music industry.
